The only letter of Medicare plans that makes sense, Part D is specific to prescription drug coverage. Part D is an optional service provided by private insurance companies that helps you pay for prescription drugs. To be eligible for Part D, you must be enrolled in Part A and/or Part B.
Additionally, if you are enrolled in Part C, you get Part A and Part B, with the added bonus of not having to purchase Part D separately. Part D can save you money on common prescription drugs, depending on the type and usage of the drug in question. Each drug coverage option falls into one of four separate tiers, which will impact the amount you pay; the higher the tier, the higher the copayment.
Certain drugs are not covered by any Part D plan, including dietary medications, drugs for nonmedical purposes, and over-the-counter medicines.
We will be sure to carefully walk you through each tier and determine which drugs are included to ensure you are getting what you need before adding it to your plan.
